[ A THOUSAND YEARS ]

Image
Last night of the year, You're far and yet so near; Bodies drift by like smoke, Hands, drinks knot like rope, Eyes as lost as souls, Hearts filled with holes, You're near and yet so far. Last day of the year, Promises renewed without fear, Mistakes acknowledged, new beginnings rendered; Dead ends strived into possibilities, Hope rekindled like a beacon at the horizon Only to be shattered again, Like dreams and hearts and your fading voice. I was there to witness The first rays of the sun Kissing your cheeks On a new year. I was there to witness The first drops of rain Caressing your hair On a new year. I was there by your side, Waiting for my turn To kiss you for the first time On a new year. I was there by your side, And then I was not; I felt you evanesce, saw our shadows unite, Merging us for the last time On a new year. I've whispered to the stars For a thousand years, To guide me back to you. I've dreamed about your eyes...

[ BELONG ]

Image
Blurry eyes above hollow cheeks, They close and open, They see and unsee the truth: I belong nowhere. Check. Blood flows through veiled veins, It searches for your essence, It searches for the melody of your heartbeat synced with mine, until it stumbles upon the truth: I belong nowhere. Check. Hands stumble and fingers twitch, They try to find you, They try to grasp you, Too silly to accept the truth: You're gone and I belong nowhere. Check. Stars twinkle and moonlight glitters, They try to show me the way to you, They think they can substitute the sun, Too proud to accept the truth: I'm too numb to be warmed and I belong nowhere. Check. Leaves flutter as the breeze caresses my face, It tries to soothe my scorching bones, It tries to blow away the truth: You're not here and I belong nowhere. Check. I remain ensconced with hollowness, As the rain kisses newborn grass, As the rain tries to wash away the truth: The mist i...

[ INCONSPICUOUS ]

Hello, my love! I have something to confess to you. I have something to confess to you, before I get inconspicuous again. My life's a mess - wish I could start anew, with you by my side again. Hello, my love! I tried to kiss a woman. I tried to kiss a woman who wasn't you. But I jerked back - frantic as a nightman, after her face faded and I saw you. Hello, my love! Do you still have that nightmare? Do you still have that nightmare, where I'm not clutching your hand anymore? And do they go away elsewhere, when the man beneath you tells you that I'm not there anymore? Hello, my love! I swear I'm not drunk. I swear I'm not drunk, because I have not forgotten the shape of your dimple that forms on your right cheek, everytime you blush. Everything I held dear has sunk, including you, with golden hair and blue eyes and soft thighs and scarlet lips and cute pinkies - Oh, I can't control my blush! Hello, my love! Don...

[ ASHES ]

Image
Into the starry starry night I dive, Pristine peaks ensconce me like a hive, Glistening moonlight swallows the skies, Clouds flutter by within a blink of the eyes. No hint of a soul in sight, Something doesn't feel right. Trees and twigs sway with the breeze, The air's so stale and it smells of disease, Mind grows numb with dead thoughts afloat, They wink and flicker into the horizon like smoke, I wish for sound and an end to the stillness, Everything's so quiet that it chills my bones, I look around my feet and scoop up some snow, With a gasp I realize that it's burning: Burning, burning; The souls are burning Into a thousand fading stars, Withering, blazing, scorching, searing Sensations and colours and memories of you. Ashes, ashes; The world is in ashes, And the flaming embers are coming for me. Into the starry starry eyes I stare, Forgetting to blink as I discover an universe there, Hands shake as the fingers interlink, Lips twitch ope...

[ LOST STARS ]

Image
You're the one girl, And you know that it's true: Everything comes back to you. The skyline splits in two, Dreary eyes search for you, Absorbing a million shades of black, Looking for a needle in the haystack. A thousand lonely nights, A thousand crushed cravings, The stars vigilant and bearing witness To whispered dreams and hopes of forgiveness. You're the endless sea, That I'm reading out for someone I can't see; You're my unfinished poetry, Like broken glass in a mirror of dreams. Lyrics don't make any sense, I'm swimming in smoke so dense: Reminiscent waves uncoloring senses, Slivers of darkness whispering menace; Rejection dimming the flames of my soul, Engulfed by questions that I don't have answers to in whole: Are we all lost stars illuminating Lightyears of darkness In the twisted fabrics of existence? Are we all lost stars flickering With unrequited impressions of colours, Destined to fade away without Our s...

[ SLEEPING GIANTS ]

Image
You - I can feel you! How is this possible? My frozen heart - oh, my wretched heart: it's combustible again. I unroll my eyes with the first rays of sunrise, and see the world unravel before me. How is this possible? My darkened sight - lulled to oblivion in a world without you, oh, it can espy the light again. I go out in the woods, searching for you. I know you've found a way to me, burning out the falsehoods, No longer concealed by the mist and dew. Above and around, I'm surrounded. I can hear the sleeping giants stirring, the enigmatic sky bleeding fluffy cotton clouds into the ice at the peaks, those ancient voices whispering to the winds about mysteries long forgotten - one of them being you. The cool breeze carries it, all the way down to me. It caresses my cheeks, and taunts my ear with bits. My eyebrows twitch, itching to be kissed, as my mind rewinds to the starry night under the mountains, when I memorized your...

[ TWILIGHT ]

Image
I wonder If the moon stares at you The way I do. I rack my brains Standing under the November rains, Struck by lightning, By a thousand thoughts and reflections, On what it means to be awed by you - Everyday. I wonder If you still look at the moon, And think of me. The stars still transmit, They twinkle and sparkle With the decaying echoes Of the adolescent nights you spent, From twilight to dawn, From full moon to new moon, And new moon to full moon, With me. I wonder If the sun is to the moon What you are to me: Everything, everything. It's strange that The lost parks of this lost city Still dazzle the strangers passing by at twilight, Resplendent with the buried love Of a thousand lost souls, Of a thousand concealed promises, Of a thousand stolen kisses, Yours and mine included. I wonder If the shadows of the eclipsing moon Affect you, The way my thoughts do. The lingering traces Of your lips, Like the fading chorus Of an 80'...

[ REBIRTH ]

Image
End of a gloomy grey  night, Clouds obscuring the starlight, Eyes flutter open with a squint, Absent traces of light, absent hint, Only the vast grey nothing Stretching on to the rimless horizon. A hundred shades of darkness, Obscuring, hulking, unwieldy: Whispering menace, feigning timidness, Ears trying to conceal the truth, But the grey is devoid of ruth. Time flickers by, the sun is dead Mind rages on, introspecting the incorporeal: Soft breeze caresses leaves, Mellow metamorphizes into tints of grey , Heart comprehends the incomprehensible - Beauty got devoured by darkness, during the Confluence of the sky and earth, Abandoning me in the throes of rebirth , Engulfing the blooming flowers, Creating a world sans imagination; Sans colour, sans inspiration, sans you. Cigarette jutting at the tip of the lips, Dense smoke playing hide and seek, Reminiscent memories in cold decay, Symphonies of you and I fading away, Grey oceans bleeding into the grey...
